Your Favorite Ballot Box

It is funny how we stay outside the ring and condemn or celebrate the wins or losses of wrestlers. We tell them to jump. We know when they are supposed to bend and the height of it is that we expect them to see the sides of their opponents we know about.

Oh, maybe that was harsh. Wrestling is your favorite sport so I will just use football. Really? Would that be mean too? Alright, I will just hit the nail on the head then.

The democratic system of government encourages that eligible members of the society choose their leadership. It is the responsibility of the masses to decide who stays at the he of affairs in their community. This is interesting because it gives every individual a sense of belonging in the society. It is as beautiful as your favorite sports that I mentioned earlier. Oh sorry, it skipped my mind that you do not want me mentioning your sports.

When the real play is to come up, we find the determinants of this same leadership sitting outside the ring defining what moves the proposed leaders should make. They say, oh a little tilt to that side, a little bend to that end, a little this and a bit of that. They begin to function as spectators of an event they are supposed to define.

The ballot box is the soul of any society. It is a determinant of the future of their unborn generations. It is the bedrock of their economy, and it is their image in the globe.

The ballot box is your hope. Members of the Nigerian society must begin to shift from the spectators’ stand a step into the real game. They must understand that the ballot box gets weightier only when they become a part of the game. It is their voice, their choice and their favorite sportsman. Decide to be a part of the new game come 2023.
