Social Media Strategies

For effective online marketing via social media (called social media marketing), there’s need for an effective strategy to drive traffic and promote your brand.  Social Media marketing is the utilization of social media platforms for the sole aim of promoting a product or service by engaging your audience and increasing conversion.  It usually involves the creation of content tailored to the specific context of each social media platform, and to soothe your different customers. As Gary Vaynerchuk said: “Content is king, but context is God.”  This simply means that content works differently on each platform, therefore, it’s crucial to adjust your social media marketing strategy accordingly to achieve maximum results.

A social media strategy (SMS) is an outline of the content that your business will post, the responsibilities of your social media team, and the social media channels you will use to promote your business. A social media strategy includes social media goals that complement your business’ overall digital marketing strategy.  SMS is important because it will help you map out a plan to stand out from the crowd, build an audience of activated and informed followers, and create an environment where you can take leads and massage them through the buying cycle, from awareness to consideration to purchase phase.

Important things to note in developing your SMS includes:

  • Define Clear Goals, and make it SMART. Simply answer the questions relating to what you want to achieve with every action you take.
  • Research and define your audience.
  • Select the appropriate social media channels/platforms for Your Audience.
  • Set up your social media accounts
  • Create a Content Bank; make sure your content are original and engaging.
  • Identify Keywords and Hashtags.
  • Create a content schedule or a social media content calendar
  • Set your analytics
  • Start posting
  • And finally, be in touch with your followers/users
